Challenge
Abu Dhabi is on a mission to transform into a vibrant hub for sports and active lifestyles, aiming to boost the community’s physical and mental well-being. The Department of Community Development (DCD) sought a dynamic brand identity to support this vision—one that would inspire the city’s residents to embrace a healthier way of life and pave the way for more gyms, sports events, and wellness programs.
Ask
DCD needed a logo and visual system that encapsulated movement, transition, and the positive momentum behind Abu Dhabi’s drive toward active living. The design had to be engaging, forward-thinking, and reflect the collaborative spirit of the initiative, making the brand instantly recognizable and resonant with the community.
Action
I worked closely with the client to create a logo inspired by sport track lines, symbolizing the entity’s joint effort to guide Abu Dhabi’s community towards healthier living both mentally and physically. Starting with hand-drawn sketches, I refined and traced the designs digitally to capture the essence of movement and transition. The ‘ripple effect’ within the design was intentionally incorporated to represent the ongoing positive influence and continuous growth encouraged by the entity. A vibrant color palette further emphasized the energy and dynamism of the brand, ensuring every element aligned with the mission.
Result
The final identity delivers a dynamic and engaging look that perfectly mirrors Abu Dhabi’s ambitious vision for a healthier, more active future. The logo’s sport track inspiration and ripple effect not only communicate movement and progress but also symbolize the powerful, community-wide impact of the initiative. By working in close collaboration with DCD, we crafted a cohesive brand identity that inspires and motivates the public, setting the stage for Abu Dhabi to become a premier destination for health, fitness, and well-being.
